Join a coalition dedicated to end the violence that permeates New York State’s prisons and to build a system rooted in dignity, accountability, and humanity. Current efforts include five pieces of legislation that are worthy of immediate action that would protect incarcerated women and adult survivors of prison assault, as well as legislation was introduced and sponsored Sen. Zellnor Myrie (SB 2550) that would create a statutory exemption to NY's grand jury secrecy laws for matters of historical significance after 40 years have passed. This legislation would create a presumption that the grand jury information relating to Attica should be unsealed and made available to the public.

Release Aging People in Prison (RAPP) is a grassroots advocacy campaign created and led by formerly incarcerated people. We work to end the racist law-and-order policies that have more than doubled the number of elders behind bars over the past 20 years, to expand the use of parole, compassionate release, and clemency, and to end life imprisonment. The purpose of the National Alumni Association of the Black Panther Party (NAABPP) is to promote and sustain the legacy of the Black Panther Party, to provide information, resources and linkages to advance and promote community organizing, to support social and criminal justice, youth development, education initiatives, advocacy and programs. The National Conference of Black Lawyers (NCBL) is an American association, formed in 1968, to offer legal assistance to black civil rights activists. Noted clients included Angela Davis, Assata Shakur, the Attica Brothers, Geronimo Pratt, Mumia Abu-Jamal, Ben Chavis, and the Wilmington Ten. The organization lobbied against apartheid in South Africa. NCBL expanded from African-American oppression to help other groups in countries like Northern Ireland, the Palestinian territories, Cuba, Nicaragua, Guyana, Grenada, and throughout Southern Africa. Our mission is: "To protect human rights, to achieve self-determination of Africa and African Communities and to work in coalition to assist in ending the oppression of all peoples."

For over 88 years, the NLG has provided support for the struggles for racial justice, civil rights and workers’ rights. The NLG was the first organization to send lawyers to the South to support the fight for desegregation and voting rights; the NLG was the first national bar organization to oppose the Vietnam War. The mission of the New York City Chapter is to provide fellowship for those who seek excellence in the practice of law and who embrace a radical vision of economic, social and environmental justice. A core tenet of our practice is to provide mass defense to these movements and to victims of police repression.
